WHY A FIRST SMALL REVIEW OF THE WORKS OF BLANC AUGUST
PAINTER?
Here are a little while that in agreement with
the family of the painter Auguste BLANC and to realize a wish,
I began the census of the works of this painter. At the same
time the editorial staff of a work on the work of this artist
was necessary as an evidence. How to see so many different and
qualitative paintings without wanting to share the feelings which
they aroused in me, how not to make known better , to discover
or to rediscover such a talent. Today I counted a good many of
works. The more my work advances and the more I see of variety
and wealth in Auguste BLANC's work. Few persons remember this
simple, friendly man of all, who made so much for the painting
cévenole. With some friends he created art cévenol.
If one can say that there is a school of painting cévenole
it is since their work. The painters cévenols current
owe a lot to him. Auguste BLANC was a sincere painter.
While by painting what he loved, what he felt,
what he knew and knows how again to touch our sensibility. He
has never looked for glory, he painted to please and share the
enjoyment in the others. It is the mark of the true talent and
the poet. Some alésiens remember certain paintings of
landscapes, often in very green and vague tones. Nevertheless
that of variety in his palette, in its subjects. Auguste BLANC
knew how as well to get the poetry of a bouquet of flowers, a
landscape of autumn, children's toys abandoned for a moment by
his small son Patrice LAYRE.
That soft complicity of these women taking the
coffee, or to savor the moments of rest hands pressed on the
stick. A painter often lets as remember the last painting that
he showed to the public, one often forgets that the career was
long and very varied. If I want to show some works of this painter
in a first review it is so that one understands better who was
Auguste BLANC, who one throws a new glance on its work. For this
first small review I chose variety. Some landscapes: a sweet
and brilliant snow; at the edge of a lake, a castle, in the setting
sun which would have been able to be that of the big Meaulne;
a simple bridge stepping over a river in multiple reflections
or painter is permît all the boldnesses of touchees; trees
twisted with autumn winds quite there camaïeux of warm colours...
The works of fields: haymaking time, treated way
miniature, simple, true, deserving heir of the rich illuminations
of the manuscripts of the Middle Age; the mas cévenol,
in the evening, the old cart and cypress; the hour of the return
of the crowd, against day, image of gospel; full of shouts of
songs, the washerwomen, drawn just like that with agile and sure
paintbrush. That of life, that of talent...
Persons: of the intimacy of this ironer in against
day who looks by the window; to this child who picks a basket
of flower, artless, frail in the white dress; a moment of rest
and confidence under these light shades, under the sweet light
of under wood; a young fiancée, spining in the prairie;
for, finally, go to the rural holiday where music stirs the dresses
of colour... Flowers, varied and fragrant...
Census continues, more paintings will be known
and studied more it will be possible indeed to understand the
artist and his work. Of every discovery, of every testimonies,
in every told anecdote, the book grows rich.
This first small review is only a stage, there
will be the others of it...
